Growing Ward 1

As one of the fastest growing Wards in the City - Bob has shared many of his thoughts on development in Ward 1 including commentary on current infrastructure projects, affordable housing, and planning. Check them out below.

Bob's Development Philosophy

Growing Smarter

Bob Bell is committed to building a city where people can afford to live, not just a city where developers can afford to build.

Affordable Housing

Road Renewal

When we talk about road renewal work in Ward 1, we hear a lot of big numbers. From 2018-2026 we are told that $32M was invested in road renewal across the Ward. Bob breaks down that that number actually means in this video and demonstrates, while the investment seems large, its less than what the community deserves based on overall City spending.

Embracing Community-Led Initiatives

Community Share: Earlier this fall, Bob Bell shared his support for a community-developed proposal for a Multi-use Path Adjacent to Highway 174. Community Share: Bob Bell is supportive of the Cumberland-resident generated proposal to expand transit services to Cumberland Village. Bob Bell's Thoughts on the Delay for Pre-trial Testing of the LRT East Extension

Not even a month after Rick Leary committed to pre-trial running starting in October, the news broke that the testing was delayed because of a software issue. Hear Bob Bell's thoughts on this announcement here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1JMysADtM6/

When Bob is your Councillor, he will prioritize letting resident feedback drive his decisions.

Whether its the, how we approach rebuilding transit, or any other decisions he faces, he will centre the lived experiences and feedback of Ward 1 residents.

That starts now, ensuring you know his position on core issues for the City, and that continues when he gets elected.

Watch Bob's comments on the importance of the Centrum Re-Development Consultation here: https://youtube.com/shorts/lIeOJvL6So0.

Orléans is growing fast. Making sure we grow close to the LRT makes sense. Re-electing a councillor who has failed to prepare our ward for intensification doesn't make sense.

Watch Bob Bell's comments on why he is not confident that sending the 1500+ unit zoning application for the development at Centrum (with no resident parking) back to staff for revisions is the win we may be told it is. In addition, learn more about how this strategy has been used in the past by the current City Councillor resulting in ultimately no revisions being made to the application to address resident feedback: https://youtube.com/shorts/uH7MeBcR9wk.

Bob Bell Shares the Community's Concerns with Safety at the 3030 St Joseph Construction Site

Following several reports of challenges at the 3030 St Joseph development site, Bob Bell set out searching for a meaningful record of all the safety concerns and how they've been addressed, only to come up empty handed. The only place he could find any type of historical record of complaints and superficial gesturing at how they've been resolved was through old Facebook posts. The posts and comments that hadn't been deleted yet.

As your councillor, much like the vote tracker Bob has committed to, he will use his position to continue to keep residents updated in a meaningful and tangible way. Not on Facebook, but as a means of public record, starting on his website and, with the support of Council, in the future, on the City of Ottawa's.
